Eligibility Criteria for Punjab Jail Warders and Matrons:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th grade or an
equivalent qualification from a recognized Board/University. Additionally,
they must have passed matriculation with Punjabi as one of the elective
subjects. - Age Limit:
As of 1st January 2026, the minimum age is 18 years, and the maximum age
is 27 years. A relaxation of 5 years is available for SC, ST, and OBC
candidates.
Pay Scale for Punjab Police Jail Warders and Lady Matrons:
- The selected candidates will receive a salary of Rs.
10,300/- to Rs. 34,800/- per month along with a grade pay of Rs.
3,200/-.
Selection Process for Punjab Police Jail Warders Recruitment 2026:
Candidates will be selected based on
physical tests and written exam:
- Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
Candidates must meet the following physical standards:- Jail Warders (Male):
- Minimum Height: 5 feet 7
inches - Chest: 33 inches
(Unexpanded), 34.5 inches (Expanded)
- Minimum Height: 5 feet 7
- Dogras/Gurkhas (Male):
- Minimum Height: 5 feet 4.5
inches - Chest: 33 inches

- Minimum Height: 5 feet 4.5
- Lady Matrons (Female):
- Minimum Height: 5 feet 3
inches - Weight: 50 Kg and above
- Minimum Height: 5 feet 3

Candidates will be evaluated through the following physical tests:- Male:
- 100 meters race to be
completed in 15 seconds - Shotput (7.26 Kgs) – 5.50
meters (3 chances) - Rope Climbing – 15 feet (3
chances)
