SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the notification for Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 for recruitment to Data Entry Operator (DEO), Data Entry Operator Grade A, Lower Division Clerk (LDC) and Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) posts in various Central Government Ministries, Departments and organizations.
A total of approximately 2536 tentative vacancies have been announced under SSC CHSL 2026. The final vacancy position and post-wise/category-wise vacancy details will be updated by SSC later on its official website.
Candidates who have passed 12th Standard or equivalent can apply for LDC/JSA and most DEO posts. However, candidates applying for certain DEO/DEO Grade A posts must have passed 12th Science with Mathematics as a subject.
The SSC CHSL 2026 online application process is being conducted through the new official SSC website, ssc.gov.in. The notification is dated 07 September 2026.

SSC CHSL 2026 Vacancy Details
The Commission has announced approximately 2536 tentative vacancies for the examination. SSC will publish the updated vacancy position as and when the information is received and finalized from the concerned User Departments.

SSC CHSL 2026 Educational Qualification
DEO and DEO Grade A Qualification
For DEO/DEO Grade A posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
For other DEO/DEO Grade A posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
LDC and JSA Qualification
Candidates applying for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) posts must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
Candidates who are appearing for the 12th Standard examination can also apply, but they must possess the required qualification on or before 07 October 2026.
SSC CHSL 2026 Age Limit
The prescribed age limit for SSC CHSL 2026 is 18 to 27 years as on 01 August 2026. Candidates must have been born between 02 August 1999 and 01 August 2008, subject to the applicable age relaxation rules.
Age relaxation will be available to eligible reserved and special categories as per Government of India rules.
SSC CHSL 2026 Application Fee
The examination fee for SSC CHSL 2026 is ₹100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to eligible SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from payment of the examination fee.
SSC CHSL 2026 Selection Process
The latest SSC CHSL 2026 recruitment is based on a two-tier examination system:
- Tier-I Computer Based Examination
- Tier-II Computer Based Examination
Tier-II contains the Computer Knowledge Test and the Skill Test/Typing Test along with the main objective sections. Candidates must qualify the applicable sections of Tier-II.

Tier-I is an objective-type Computer Based Examination. The normal duration is 60 minutes, with a separate sectional timer of 15 minutes for each subject. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
SSC CHSL 2026 Tier-II Exam Pattern
Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day. Session-I consists of Sections I, II and III, while Session-II consists of the Skill Test/Typing Test.

Note: Section-I carries 60 questions for 180 marks, while Section-II carries 60 questions for 180 marks. The Computer Knowledge Test carries 15 questions for 45 marks and is qualifying in nature.
Note: There is 1 mark negative marking for every wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II. The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test are qualifying in nature.
SSC CHSL 2026 DEO Skill Test
The DEO Skill Test is mandatory for all candidates applying for Data Entry Operator posts. No candidate is exempted from appearing in the DEO Skill Test.
For DEO/DEO Grade A posts covered under the specified departments mentioned in the educational qualification section, the required data entry speed is 15,000 key depressions per hour. The test is conducted for 15 minutes.
For other DEO/DEO Grade A posts, the required data entry speed is 8,000 key depressions per hour, with the test also conducted for 15 minutes.
SSC CHSL 2026 LDC/JSA Typing Test
Candidates applying for LDC/JSA posts have to appear for the Typing Test. The typing medium can be English or Hindi, and candidates have to select their preferred medium while submitting the online application.
For English medium, the required typing speed is 35 words per minute. For Hindi medium, the required typing speed is 30 words per minute. The test is conducted for 10 minutes.
Candidates choosing Hindi as the typing medium for LDC/JSA must use Mangal Font during the Typing Test.

SSC CHSL 2026 Final Selection
Candidates will first be shortlisted for Tier-II based on their performance in Tier-I. Normalized scores will be used wherever applicable.
The final merit list will be prepared using the aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV. The final allocation will also depend on the post and department preferences submitted by the candidates.
Candidates should therefore give their post preferences carefully. The preference submitted by a candidate is treated as final and cannot subsequently be changed according to the notification.
How to Apply for SSC CHSL 2026 Exam:
Eligible candidates have to submit their applications online through the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in. Candidates who do not already have an OTR on the new SSC website must first complete the One-Time Registration process before applying for CHSL 2026.
The old OTR created on the previous ssc.nic.in website will not work on the new SSC website.
Candidates should complete the application process carefully and submit the form before 07 October 2026 at 11:00 PM.
