AP TET 2026 Applications: Record Number of Applications Received as Exams Approach

 Amaravati: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in Andhra Pradesh has attracted a significant number of applications. The deadline for receiving applications ended on August 3, with the school education department reporting that a total of 4,27,300 students have applied.

According to officials, 1,82,609 candidates applied for Paper 1-A in the secondary grade teacher category, while 2,662 candidates applied for Paper 1-B in the secondary grade teacher (special education) category. Additionally, 64,036 candidates registered for Paper II-A (languages), and 1,04,788 candidates applied for Maths and Science in the school’s assistant teacher category. For social studies, 70,767 candidates submitted applications, and 2,438 candidates applied for Paper II-B (school assistant teacher – special education).

The TET exams will be conducted as per the revised schedule, from October 3 to 20. Director of School Education Vijayarama Raju stated that all candidates should prepare accordingly.

The AP government is also preparing for the Mega DSC to fill 16,347 teacher posts across the state. In line with this effort, the education department issued the TET notification on July 2 and accepted applications until August 3. In response to candidates’ requests, several changes were made to the schedule, giving them additional time to prepare for both the TET and DSC exams. Originally, the TET exams were scheduled for August 5 to 20, but they have now been rescheduled to October 3 to 20. With a 20% weightage for TET in the DSC exam, the competition among candidates is expected to be intense
