CSIR Junior Secretariat Assistant Exam Syllabus Pattern:
The CSIR Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) and Junior Stenographer Exam follows a Computer-Based Test (CBT) and a proficiency test as part of the selection process. The CBT for JSA consists of two papers: Paper-I (Mental Ability Test) with 100 questions (200 marks) and Paper-II (General Awareness & English Language) with 50 questions each (total 300 marks). Paper-I is qualifying in nature, while Paper-II scores determine the final merit list. Candidates must also pass a computer typing proficiency test (35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi).
The CBT for Junior Stenographer includes a single paper with 200 multiple-choice questions covering General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. Each wrong answer carries negative marking (0.25 marks deducted per incorrect response). After the CBT, candidates must qualify for a stenography test (dictation at 80 w.p.m. with transcription in English or Hindi). The CBT is conducted online, and final selection is based on written exam performance, with the proficiency tests being qualifying in nature.
