Detailed information about GATE 2025 exam notification is given below.
The GATE examination has a history of forty years. Apart from the prestigious IITs, IISc Bangalore, various NITs and reputed engineering colleges, one has to appear for this exam to get admission in engineering/technology/architecture/pharmacy streams. IITS Bangalore is conducting GATE in 30 papers this year on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. This score is valid for three years for PG admission and one or two years for PSUs.
GATE-2025 is likely to be written in two papers. Students are not required to write the exam in two papers. They can choose one or two papers of their choice. The gate exam is conducted not only in India but also in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Kathmandu (Nepal) and Singapore.

Integrated ME/MTech or dual degree (after diploma or 10+2) (5-year programme).
Students who are currently studying in the third year or more and those who have completed their degree are eligible.
The exam will be conducted online. Identify the correct answer used by the computer mouse in the online test mode. The question paper will be in a completely objective mode. There are three types of questions asked. The GATE question paper consists of 65 questions out of a total of 100 marks. The duration of the test is three hours.
The question paper consists of two sections.
Section-1 (General Aptitude)
There are 10 questions in it. Five are one-mark questions and another five are two-mark questions. Four to five questions in this section are English related (Verbal Ability) and the rest are quantitative questions.
You can get good marks in this section by reading daily newspapers and practicing previous question papers related to other competitive exams (CAT).
Section-II (Related Engineering Subject)
There will be 55 questions in this section. There will be 25 one-mark questions and 30 two-mark questions.
There will be 10-15 marks from Mathematics. However, the questions in this section are not pure mathematics but with an engineering application. The questions focus on innovations in their respective fields.

What type of questions?
1. Multiple Choice Questions: Four options are given. Only one of them is the correct answer. That is the only thing to be identified.
2. Multiple Selective Questions: These are multiple choice questions. But there is more than one correct option. Identify all the correct options to answer these questions.
3. Numerical answer questions: There are no options given in these. The answers to these questions should be written using a virtual keyboard. Due care should be taken while writing the answer. This is because the adjacent units are also considered in the answer. The answers to these questions can be given at a close scale. If the correct answer is 92.24, then the answer between 92.23 and 92.25 will be considered correct and the marks will be given.
Virtual Calculator
Calculators and mobiles will not be allowed inside the examination centre. An online virtual calculator will be available for the candidates to do the calculations. This calculator can be used using a computer mouse
Since the virtual calculator does not have all kinds of functions, questions can be framed accordingly.
Questions of imaginary functions and higher order equations may not be asked.
A wrong answer in GATE carries 33.33 per cent negative marks. This means that there will be 1/3 of the questions of one mark and 2/3 of the questions of two marks each. For numerical questions, there will be no negative marks for multiple-choice questions.

‣ GATE – 2025 will be held in the month of February. This means that almost 7 months of time is available for preparation.
By starting preparation much earlier than the time of the exam, you can procure standard books and related materials. The concepts and topics in the syllabus can be practiced well. This is an important event in gate success.
A closer look at the syllabus will help you understand which subjects should focus more on. It is also important to understand the examination procedure. This will bring clarity on the sections of the exam and the practice of the questions.
The previous GATE question papers must be practiced. This shows which aspects of which concept is given priority. You know what to focus on the most.
Along with the previous GATE question papers, the candidates will have to practice the exam papers for the recruitment of ESE, ISRO and PSU. By doing this, you will know how many ways a topic can be asked.
All subjects and all subjects will be given priority in GATE. So all subjects should be given priority in preparation.
Punctuality is very important in the preparation. The tasks assigned on any given day should be completed on that day itself.
Prepare small tables on each subject and each chapter related topics.
Equal importance should be given to the most difficult, simple and the most ordinary aspects in the preparation.
After reading each chapter and subject, write the online tests offered by leading educational institutions. Once the preparation is completed, sample question papers (mock tests) should be written. This shows the level of preparedness.
In the practice of chapters, subject-wise mock tests and sample question papers, every wrongly written answer should be corrected and practiced with special attention. With this type of exercise, those mistakes will not be repeated during the exam.
NTPL lessons are very useful for students to understand the basics. They are also useful for writing answers to analytical questions.
If you try to write a question paper in the previous year’s question papers at the time allotted for the exam, the candidates will understand the level at which they are.
Revision: Revision is very crucial for the exam. Every item read must be revised. The small tables prepared during the preparation should be taken advantage of in this revision.
The syllabus in gate exam is very high
This is not true. Gate syllabus is only 60 per cent as compared to the syllabus studied in four years of engineering. Only the sources and new trends related to the entire engineering branch will be included in the GATE syllabus. Even a large hill will disappear for some time if the rock is removed every day. If you go ahead with understanding each concept for two to three hours a day, you can complete the preparation of the entire syllabus in the time available.
In GATE, only IIT and NIT students will be the winners. Difficult for those with a rural background.
This is completely unrealistic. An analysis of the details of past winners shows that most of them have studied from ordinary colleges. Many have a rural background who studied in their mother tongue till intermediate.
‣ Only merit students in B.Tech will succeed in GATE.
It’s not true. There are many average B.Tech students who have worked hard with perseverance, concentration and determination and secured great ranks.
To pass gate, one has to study for at least one year after engineering.
This is also a myth. If you look at the winners of the previous GATE exams, there are many students studying in the third and final year of engineering.
